Cleaning Different Types of Carpet Stains

Different types of stains and spills can easily damage your beautiful carpet. It’s a common thing to see a number of stains on your carpet. If you apply some simple homely tips whenever you see a stain on your carpet, then you can easily extend its life and can make it look new for years.

Here are some easy and effective tips for cleaning some common type of carpet stains and spills:

Coffee stains

  • Apply shaving cream on the stain, work in with a damp cloth and rinse the carpet with water.
  • Heat the stained area with wet but hot cloth, tap gently with vinegar, and rinse it thoroughly.

Juice spills

Pour club soda over the spill and blot thoroughly.

Food stains

Apply shaving cream on the stained area and allow it to set for 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse the area with vinegar.

Red wine

Pour white wine over the spot, neutralize and blot. Keep adding white wine and blotting until the stain is removed. After this rinse the carpet thoroughly and dry quickly.

Nail polish

Drip acetone over the stain and tap and blot. Repeat the procedure until the stain is completely removed. When the stain will be removed, flush the area with club soda to remove the acetone.

Mud and dirt

Sprinkle a heavy layer of table salt over the area and allow it to dry, and then vacuum thoroughly.

Gum

Freeze the area with ice cubes and chip off it with the blunt kitchen knife.
Pour a spoonful of peanut butter on the area. Mix the peanut butter into the gum with the help of the spoon and leave for some time. Rub the area with the spoon to loosen it. Wipe it by making a picking motion with a wet rag. Lastly wash the area with a rag.
