How to Decorate Guest Bedroom?

If you are one of those popular people who have guests dropping by often, then you should have a guest room ready for not only your guests’ comfort but also your convenience. If you have a small room in spare in your house and a big space in your heart, a guest room wouldn’t be very difficult to prepare.

Just when you are thinking what to do and how to begin, imagine yourself as a guest and what you really like to see in a guest room.

  • Color Scheme – If your home has a specific color scheme then you can carry that to your guest room as well. If not you can keep it very simple using neutral shades like beige, off-white or white.
  • Furniture – The most important thing is a bed. You don’t have to get an elaborate bed set like that in your master bedroom. A double bed is ideal for a guest room. Wood is the ideal material. Apart from this depending on your budget you could include two chairs a centre table, and a dressing table and a clothing storage with bare hangers and a chest of drawers.
  • Furnishings – You will have to make the room with pleasant and inviting curtains and bed spreads. Make sure you have comfortable blankets or quilts for your guests. If all your other rooms have a wall-to-wall carpet you could get that for your guest room too. Just to maintain the uniformity. Otherwise there is no such need. Good and pleasant furnishings make even the dullest and bland rooms beautiful. You shouldn’t mind spending a little extra here. It’s all worth.
  • Electronics – If you are at a place where Air conditioners or heaters are a must in every room, then you shouldn’t deprive your guest room of one too. You would be punishing your guests if you do so. If you have some extra bucks to spend you could also include a TV set in your guest room.
  • Lighting – You could use standard lighting that you have around all your rooms. You should also have night lamp and lamps aside the bed. Make sure the switches are close to the bed so that your guests don’t have to get up every time to switch the lights on. Make sure the plug points are close to the bed so that they can place their mobile phone chargers close to their beds.
  • Bathroom – A bathroom should be furnished with all the essentials, no compromise there. You could accessorize your bathroom with nice lamps and standard bath fittings. You should keep fresh towels, new packaged soap and bottle of shampoo, comb and talcum powder, tube of toothpaste and a new toothbrush.
  • Miscellaneous Items – You should also include a few items to add more comfort to your guest room and make it cosier and friendlier for your guests. You can add a few books or magazines for your guest’s comfort, especially if you don’t have a TV set in your guest room, you should have an alarm clock by the bed side, an ash-tray (just in case), waste basket, tissue papers, a notepad and a pen, a jug of water and two clean glasses. You should also try to keep an extra blanket, a extra sheet and an extra pillow in spare.

Remember comfort is the key. Make sure you keep the guest room independent of the rest of the home yet in the matter of comfort it should be on par with all the other rooms of the house. You should make your guest feel welcome and not like an intruder.
