How to Select Cleaning Products?

When you walk into a super market you will find a wide range of household cleaning products over the shelves. This can leave you a bit confused as to what to choose for your general cleaning activities.

While choosing your cleaning products, you need to keep in mind your cleaning needs, what is it that you will be cleaning and what product is best suitable for that. If you want to clean off the stains of your carpet, choose a cleaner that is meant exactly for cleaning stains on carpets. Read the label of the product carefully. Check if it is safe for your carpet or not. Should it be used diluted or concentrated? Every cleaning product or solution has different strengths. You should be careful while using it.

Some cleaners may be so strong that they may end up damaging your furniture, floor or carpets. Some cleaners may be so diluted that it may not be able to clean the surface at all. Don’t forget to read labels or talk to the customers around about the product.
Apart from that, give preference to environment friendly cleaning products. This will not only protect the environment but also save you from health risks. Make sure that they contain a very little amount of harmful chemicals whose toxicity do not damage our environment and pose dangers to human race.

In case you are still confused, it is always best to resort to natural cleaners that are both safe and effective. You could choose any of the following depending on your cleaning needs –

  • Baking Soda – Baking soda’s alkaline nature helps it clean grease stains and removes odors. It is best used as a kitchen and stove cleaner.
  • Vinegar – Vinegar is an acid based cleaner it is best to clean salt stains in your dish washbasin, sink, toilet seat etc.
  • Lemon Juice – Lemon juice is also an acidic cleaner that can remove stains of rust and other such stains from clothes without damaging them.
  • Salt – Salt is an odor killer and can be used as a cleaner too.
  • Petrol – Petrol is also an excellent cleaner. You can use it to remove grease stains from clothes. The smell might be annoying for some, but it will fade away after a couple of normal washes.
  • Other natural products like ammonia, denatured alcohol, hydrogen peroxide and oxalic acid can do great job in cleaning.
