An air conditioner is an essential requirement during summer. It is a great relief from the sweltering heat outside. This necessity however ends up being a burden at the end of the month with the turning up of the electricity bill.
Well, if one wants they can actually reduce the sky rocketing amounts in the bill. Before, that lets understand how an A/C works. During summer, the air is very humid this makes us feel very hot. An A/C however, helps remove the humidity from the air, thus maintaining a cool temperature in the house.
The more the level of humidity, the more power is used, thus adding to the staggering electric bill. If one reduces the humidity content, the A/C will use less power and therefore there will be a low bill.
But how does one reduce humidity levels in the house???
1) Close the windows and doors during hot summer days.
2) Don’t keep going in and out of the house several times, every time you open the door there will be lots of humid air entering the house.
3) Check to see that you don’t have any plumbing leaks in the house. Moist walls lead to more humidity.
4) Keep the cooking dry, boiling liquids, will add to the humidity in the air.
5) Exhaust fans help drive out humidity from the air.
6) Keep the indoor plants outside as they contribute to the humidity inside the house.
Keep these points in mind and have a cool atmosphere on hot sunny days, with the A/C on, and less worries about a high bill.
