No matter how beautiful your Venetian blinds may look now, maintaining its tidy look can be difficult in the long run. This is because, over time and depending on your location, the blinds can collect dust and become dirty. Regular cleaning and dusting can go a long way in maintaining clean look of Venetian blinds. Though, the task may seem somewhat overwhelming, doing it methodically can make your task manageable.
Tips to Maintain Clean Venetian Blinds
Following are the tips that can help you maintain clean Venetian blinds:
- Clean Your Blinds One Room at a Time: It can be tiring and time consuming if you try to clean every Venetian blinds in your home at a time. Instead you can divide your work per room and do cleaning or dusting accordingly.
- Periodical Dusting: Periodical dusting can help in preventing building up of grime and dust. This can also make washing easier. With a feather duster or a damp cloth, you can wipe each slat, starting at the top to the bottom. You may also want to dust off the structural bars that hold your blinds together.
- Give a Mild Detergent Wash: You may add few drops of mild detergent in a bucket of water and soak a cloth piece in it. You can have another bucket of clear water ready for rinsing purpose. Leaving the slats hanging, hold each slat with one hand and using the soapy cloth wipe off dust with the other. With a second cloth soaked in clean water, you may want to re-wipe the slats. This can help in removing any soap residue or extra dust.
- Soak the Blinds in Soap Water: This is another way to clean your Venetian blinds. You may bring down the blinds and soak them in soapy water for an hour or two. Remove the wash water. You may want to refill your tub with clear hot water so as to soak the blinds in it for a fifteen-minute rinse. Your blinds are ready to be hung.
Now that you have cleaned your blinds, you can enjoy the clean look of your room. Don’t your room look brighter with clear lights coming in through your windows?
