Feng Shui Basics for Your Home

If you want to incorporate Feng Shui into your home but do not know where to start, you might want to understand some basic things about Feng Shui. Here are a few pointers about Feng Shui home design.

  • Get rid of clutter in your home. Clutter consists of useless things and things you do not love. They are major negative influences, according to Feng Shui.
  • Your house should be well ventilated. Natural light and air provide a lot of positive energy to your house. Put plants in your house which purify the air. Open your windows often. Use lights which give full spectrum light.
  • Your house should not be L-shaped or U-shaped. Split level homes are also to be avoided.
  • Define the Feng Shui energy map of your house by using a Feng Shui compass. This will determine which objects and structures in your house are hampering the flow of positive energy and bringing in negative energy.
  • The doors in your house should be properly proportioned to your house. They should not open towards a wall or towards other doors.
  • Study the Five Elements theory of Feng Shui. This will determine what elements to place in what corners of your house so that you will benefit.
  • Your front room should be especially beautiful and in agreement with Feng Shui principles. This is because this is the first room you and your guests see when they enter the house and this has a lot of influence.
  • Find out your Feng Shui birth element and your Feng Shui lucky number to incorporate and position things appropriately in your house.
  • Always be conscious of the state of your home. Pay close attention to the Feng Shui triangle, i.e. your bedroom, bathroom and kitchen.
  • Know the use of symbolic things like coins, windchimes, three legged toads etc and incorporate them into our house.
  • There are nine basic energy cures that you can incorporate into your house. They are bright objects, sound, living objects, moving objects, heavy objects, electrical objects, symbolic objects, colors and other things like posters and artwork.
