It must have come in via a hole in the ground dug by rabbits………..we have two dogs who now are going crazy trying to sniff it out……….consequently it has squirted and the whole deck area smells to high heaven. How do we get it out without lifting the deck off?

We had a problem with skunks going under our porch. They dug a hole and got under. We tried every trick all the suggestions of traps, urine from different animals, moth balls, ammonia…you name it we tried it & nothing worked. What we ended up doing was waiting until it left & then blocked the den hole with cinder blocks. The next morning we had to dig a trench…3 feet down & 2 feet out and fill it with cement. It took FOREVER, but we haven’t had them back (thank GOD!) We had bad skunk smells in our house when another animal would try & get by the den, a GREAT remedy to take away the nasty skunk smell was to put regular ground cinnamon on a baking tray in the oven at a low temp, like 250…within 10 minutes the smell is gone.

  9. I appreciate the great dispatch you allot in your articles. I’ll bookmark your blog and comprise my readers skim here often.

  10. A skunk moved in under my deck a few years back. Someone told me to try mothballs. I did – put 6 or 8 moth balls under the deck. The skunk didn’t like the smell and moved out. Has not been back since, and it’s been several years now.
