Is your computer accumulating lot of dust everyday? Is every key on the keyboard loaded up with dust? And has typing become a painful task.

Well, every owner of a personal computer goes through the above-mentioned issues.
Not just the furniture but also the computer needs to be kept dust free.

Unlike other devices, a computer should be dusted in a careful manner and with lot of precaution.

Dusty Keyboards and Screen: If the plastic case that covers the keyboard and the CPU is very dusty, zip them out and wipe them clean. You can use the vacuum cleaner to pull out the dust from the keyboard.

Another very efficient way of cleaning the keyboard is by using compressed air. It is pressurized air filled in a can and sprayed on the keyboard through a long nozzle. The force of the air pushes out any kind of dust particles stuck between the keys.

If anything has been spilt on the keyboard, switch of the computer immediately and turn the keyboard upside down and force the liquid out. Leave the keyboard overnight and let it dry. In spite of this effort if the keyboard does not continue to function, seek professional help.

It is also important to disinfect the keyboard if there are several users. Wet a cloth with some disinfectant or alcohol and rub over the keys.

Mouse: Cleaning the mouse pads with a damp cloth will help improve the movement of the mouse. For the mouse to work efficiently it is important to keep it clean, use a cotton swab dipped in alcohol to keep the “hard to reach surfaces” clean. Open up the mouse, and clean out the dust under the rollers using a cotton swab.

Speakers and CPU: If a layer of dust has coated your CPU and speakers, wipe them out with the help of a damp cloth.

Other Tips

Regular cleaning will prevent accumulation of dust on the system.

Switch off the computer before you clean it.

Do not vacuum the internal parts, leave them to a professional.

Keep these points in mind and have a clean and dust free computer.

Ants are an indiscriminating visitor, of every household. They spare no house and are found in every kitchen.

If you want ants to stop ransacking your house here are some tips that you will find very useful

1) Ants have exoskeletons, and boric acid when sprinkled on ants tends to dissolve their skeleton framework and kill them. Sprinkle some boric acid on the place where ants frequent the most and just make sure that they cross over it. The ants do not have to eat them though; an external touch of the powder is enough to kill the ant.

2) Place laurel leaves in places that the ant is more likely to visit. They act as a good repellant.

3) A natural repellant of citrus peels and water when grinded together proves to be a good repellant.

4) Drown the ants by pouring gallons of water in the anthills.

5) Sprinkling dried peppermint and red chilli powder over cracks where ants are most likely to enter will prevent them from stepping out of the holes.

6) Sprinkling black pepper on areas where ants are most likely to meet will cause them to scatter away.

7) Ants tend to follow the trail of their fellow ants in search of food. Vinegar has a chemical that tends to alter the ants scent, therefore preventing ants from visiting your kitchen.

8) Just draw a line using a plain white chalk; surprisingly ants don’t cross over chalk lines. Try it out and see for yourself.

9) Place white cloves near crevices, cracks, doors, windows and all the places ants frequent. You will not find them any where close to your kitchen.

10) Even sprinkling a line of cayenne pepper helps keep the ants away.

All the above ways will help keep your kitchen free from ants.

Cleaning a house with no ventilation is hardly a big task. Since there are hardly any windows or the windows are hardly open there is no chance of dust entering the house. But still if you find the house dusty, it could be due to accumulation of a large amount of furniture in the house. In such a case the following points would be very useful.

Remove some furniture and keep only the required ones.

Dust the house everyday; if this is not possible dust it twice a week.

Get hold of a damp cloth and rapidly dust through all the furniture. It would hardly take 5 minutes.

An ostrich feather duster is said to be good for dusting as it helps remove dust easily.

Clean your pets regularly, pets like humans shed skin regularly and contribute to formation of dust in the house .

Carpets add a lot of dust; they shed out fibers as well as don’t let go of dust that clings to
them.

Dust mites find it hard to survive during cold weathers. So dehumidifying the house helps it to stay dust free.

Regularly vacuuming and installing a high quality filter helps the house stay dust free.

Keep these points in mind and have a dust free house.

Lampshades are a beautiful decorative piece and a very useful item; one can have in their house.

However, dirt and dust coat them up making them look very unflattering. However, with care and regular cleaning, these lampshades can greatly add to the beauty of your shelf.

If your lampshade is made up of fabric material, you can soak it up in soapy water and rinse it up. If the material is too delicate then you can rub the surface with a soapy sponge/cloth and clean of the stains.

However, before doing this you need to thoroughly dust the lampshade both inside out, once you have done this you can go ahead soaking the lampshade in soapy water.

When it comes to drying, you can dry out the lampshade in the sun. Or best put it on the lamp and turn the bulb on, the heat will speed up the drying process and this way your lampshade will dry quickly.

Regular dusting and care will ensure that you have a clean lampshade. Also, make sure that you switch off the lamp before dusting it.

An air conditioner is an essential requirement during summer. It is a great relief from the sweltering heat outside. This necessity however ends up being a burden at the end of the month with the turning up of the electricity bill.

Well, if one wants they can actually reduce the sky rocketing amounts in the bill. Before, that lets understand how an A/C works. During summer, the air is very humid this makes us feel very hot. An A/C however, helps remove the humidity from the air, thus maintaining a cool temperature in the house.

The more the level of humidity, the more power is used, thus adding to the staggering electric bill. If one reduces the humidity content, the A/C will use less power and therefore there will be a low bill.

But how does one reduce humidity levels in the house???

1) Close the windows and doors during hot summer days.
2) Don’t keep going in and out of the house several times, every time you open the door there will be lots of humid air entering the house.
3) Check to see that you don’t have any plumbing leaks in the house. Moist walls lead to more humidity.
4) Keep the cooking dry, boiling liquids, will add to the humidity in the air.
5) Exhaust fans help drive out humidity from the air.
6) Keep the indoor plants outside as they contribute to the humidity inside the house.

Keep these points in mind and have a cool atmosphere on hot sunny days, with the A/C on, and less worries about a high bill.
